Venice International Airport is known as the Venice Marco Polo Airport. It is the biggest airport serving Venice. It provides excellent connections to the city of Venice. Terminal Information

Venice Marco Polo Airport has one main terminal building. The terminal building consists of three levels. Ground Level, First Level and Second Level. Ground Level handles the Arrivals, First Level manages Departures and Second Level houses some services and Lounges. You will find most of the facilities and services on the Ground Level and First Level.

Ground Level has various Arrival Exits. It has two check-in areas, Check-in Area A and Check-in Area E. Services available on the Ground Level includes bank services, shops, postbox, luggage lost and found, ticket desks, tourist information, vending machines, travel agencies, reservations counter for hotels, bus stop and taxi rental area. First Level is the Departure Area. It encompasses Boarding Gates A to D.

There are separate departure gates for Schengen and Non-Schengen flights. First Level houses 70 check-in desks and Lounges for passengers. Facilities available on the First Level includes a cafe, shop, post office, charging points, bank services, tourist information desks, tax refund and duty-free shops. Second Level houses various airline offices and VIP Lounges. There is also a Business Centre, a terrace, ATMs, vending machines, a prayer room, baby care rooms and police department.

There is a Lost and Found on the Ground Level where you can report about any lost property on the airport. It is open from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm. You will also get free wifi throughout the airport. Left-luggage facilities and luggage transport services are also available. On the Ground Level, there is a Post Office which offers currency exchange and fax services. All the parking areas, lavatories and lifts are accessible by disabled travellers. SAVE flight information, and the Venezia tourist bureau operates many tourist information counters that provide the travellers with useful information. You will find excellent medical services on the Ground Level.

The Travelex Business Centre is on the Second Level. It has meeting rooms, private workstations, translation services, conference halls, mobile phone rental, fax and photocopying services. There is a chapel on the Second Level. Luggage storage and lockers are available near entrance E outside the Terminal. There are two Observation Decks on the terminal, North Terrace and South Terrace. North Terrace is accessible to all the passengers whereas South Terrace is accessible only for the guests of Marco Polo VIP Lounge. Keep in mind that there are no Rest Zones at the airport. Shower facilities are available in the Lounges.

Venice Marco Polo Airport has enough parking facility on site. The parking space divides into various areas that can accommodate a large number of vehicles. You will find both long term and short term parking at the airport. Venice Marco Polo Airport operates a website solely for parking. On this website, you can see the availability of the parking spaces, check rates and book in advance. You can make payment by credit card, debit card and cash. There are also automatic pay stations available at the parking lot. There are three Lounges for the passengers on the Second Level, Casa Alitalia Lounge, Exact Change Business Centre and Marco Polo Club. You can enter the Lounge by paying at the door or buying a pass or by getting a membership.

Accommodation

If you have an early morning flight to catch or experiencing a flight delay, you will have various options for accommodation near Venice Marco Polo Airport. It is necessary to keep in mind that there are no Rest Zones at the airport. Also, there are no sleeping pods or day rooms available at the airport. You can relax in comfortable chairs by getting into one of the Lounges.

There are three Lounges for the passengers on the Second Level, Casa Alitalia Lounge, Exact Change Business Centre and Marco Polo Club. You can enter the Lounge by paying at the door or buying a pass or by getting a membership. If you prefer more comfort and privacy, it is best to check-in into a nearby hotel. It is easy to find a decent hotel within walking distance of the airport. Nearby hotels also provide their guests with shuttle service.

Dining and Shopping

You will find a few dining options at the Venice Marco Polo Airport. It includes Bricco Bar & Pizza, Culto Cafe, Decanto Wine Bar, Pilsner Urquell Beer Lounge, Rustichelli & Mangione, Cocktail Dream, Gelato Di Natura and many more. There are numerous Italian cafes and self-service restaurants.

There is no shop serving for 24 hours. Most of the places close before 11.00 pm. Although Vending Machines are available on the Ground Level, where you can get refreshments and small snacks. There is an Aelia Duty-Free shop on the First Level that is open from 6.00 am to 12.00 am. Most of the retail stores are present on the First Level.

Airport Transportation

Venice Marco Polo Airport has located 8 km from the city centre. It has good connections with public transport vehicles. You can get to the airport using the train, bus, water shuttle, taxi and car. ACTV bus services will take you to primary locations within Venice that include Piazzale Roma Square, Mestre Railway Station and much more.

If you want to take the train, there is no train station at the airport. You will have to take the bus first to reach the Venice-Mestre Railway Station, from here you can reach various destinations in and around Italy. You can also take a water boat and taxi. If you prefer to travel more independently and comfortable, it is best to rent a car. There are various car rental companies available on the third floor of P1.
